Dr Meng YangPhD graduate

Meng is a musician and researcher with a background in mathematics and data science and industry experience as a data analyst.

She completed her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Jon McCormack, Dr Wanchao Su and of Dr. Maria Teresa Llano in 2026. Her research interests are in creative applications of AI to music. Her initial work investigated new kinds of creative AI musical systems that support collaboration between musician and AI. Her recent work looked at musical analysis and emotional recognition using multimodal models.

Meng also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Data Science from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
