Exploring Human-Centred Creative AI

Dr Chen (Chloe) WangResearch Fellow

Chen Wang is a researcher specialising in generative AI and sequential modelling, with a particular interest in the intersection of human behaviour and artificial intelligence. She is a research fellow in SensiLab, working on the ARC Discovery Project, “Explainable Artificial Creativity” led by Professor Jon McCormack. Her work focuses on creative AI, exploring how large language models can generate text that is perceived as more creative and engaging by human readers.

Before joining SensiLab, Chen completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne. Her doctoral research, Trajectory Anomaly Detection: Intentions, Diffusion and Imitation Learning, focused on developing AI algorithms to understand human decision-making and identify unusual behaviour through intention inference.

At SensiLab, Chen continues to explore new directions in AI research, combining technical innovation with human-centred inquiry to better understand how generative systems can support creativity and meaningful interaction.
