Critical Engagement and Communities: Connecting People with Technology

As advancements in technology become more complex, our awareness of the effects of such developments on a broader social reality becomes crucial. Not only within the context of the research lab, but beyond.

In this talk, Jacina Leong explored her experience working in informal, interdisciplinary communities of practice, and the role of artistic and curatorial practices in bringing this awareness into a territory of critical experience and engagement. She focused on her work at The Cube, an informal digital learning environment at the Queensland University of Technology, and the Guerrilla Knowledge Unit, a plug-in to the Ars Electronica Futurelab Academy.

This forum took place on Wednesday 4 April.
