We ran a curator’s tour of an exhibition from Bendigo Art Gallery with twist… it was completely dark. But how can you experience artworks if you can’t see them?
Bendigo Art Gallery is one of the oldest and largest regional galleries in Australia. Guests were invited to join our ‘curators’ inside SensiLab’s ‘gallery’ to interact with selected works from their extensive permanent collection.
During the immersive talk people could not see the artworks but were able to interact with objects that helped bring them to life. While perhaps a different experience from the original artwork, this exploration took them into the world of the artwork and helped them to understand how people with vision impairment could experience cultural institutions.
More information on our work in this area can be found on the research page.
