Dr Sam TrollandPhD graduate & Research Fellow
Sam’s interests include creative coding, computer vision and interactive projection installations.
He is a research assistant at SensiLab focusing on generative music composition and interactive interfaces. He has a hands on approach and a passion for creating systems and devices that sense and react to their environment. Sam completed his PhD at SensiLab under the supervision of Professor Jon McCormack and Dr Alon Ilsar in 2025, his research investigating new methods of personalised gestural interaction specific to the performer’s movement abilities. Sam’s was awarded the 2025 Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Thesis Excellence for his PhD.
Sam has industry experience designing and building sensor systems for industrial automation and a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (Honours) from Monash University.
